Eighteenth District Representative Sean Patrick Maloney of New York and Mr. Anthony D. Smith, Director of Projects & Systems at the Federal Government Publications Office will commemorate the 75th anniversary of Vassar’s role as a government publications depository on Wednesday, February 21 at 3:30 pm in Thompson Memorial Library, Class of 1951 Reading Room. The event is free and open to the public.
Vassar will be celebrating the anniversary with a year-long series of events commemorating our involvement in the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP). The theme for the celebration is Endangered Information and Data in an Era of Disinformation. In a time when government agencies are under siege, and the flow of factual information related to government and political affairs is progressively restricted, the mission of the FDLP, “to provide free, ready, and permanent public access to Federal Government information, now and for future generations,” is more important than ever.
This event is sponsored by the Library and Political Science Department.
