President Bradley to give book talk in the Library on Feb. 5

Join President Betsy Bradley for a discussion of her book, The American healthcare paradox: why spending more is getting us less (2013, co-author Lauren Taylor).

A broad analysis of the current ways in which assessment of the American health care system tends to follow a narrow discourse, Bradley and Taylor's book examines a variety of factors that can influence health as well as a comparative analysis and case studies around the world for different health care systems. When considering both health and social systems, the paradox becomes a starting point for new ways in thinking about health care system improvements.

  • Date: MondayFebruary 5th 2018, 5:30PM
  • Place: Class of '51 Reading Room, Main Library

The discussion will extend her conversation from October 4, 2017 on Vassar Art Library's Library Cafe. Listen to the conversation online.

President Bradley has made health care systems a central focus of her career, from systems in "... the United States and through projects in Africa, Asia, and Europe. Her work, supported by the National Institutes of Health, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Clinton Foundation, has led to revolutionary innovations in the delivery of cardiovascular care, long-term and end-of-life care, and health care management." ("Vassar President Elizabeth H. Bradley Elected to National Academy of Medicine")

The lecture will be followed by a Q&A session. Light refreshments will be served.
